Off week

After 7-day holiday work shift, I did a daytrip in Chicago. The architecture biennial was amazing! Hoping to go again next time around. Check the Instagram for a few pics. Will be back again next week for the usual distractions.

Listen:
In case I haven't mentioned it, ID-Magazine's Slumber Session mixes are a go-to favorite when reading to fall asleep.

Read:
Gillian Flynn's The Grownup only leaves you wanting more of her twisted stories.

Watch:
The Man Behind the Throne - Had no idea that I have enjoyed the works of choreographer Vincent Patterson for the longest time. The documentary has a look at some of his seminal collaborations.

Listen:
Eclair Fifi never disappoints, her RA Podcast mix even has touch of 80s Freestyle, which is probably in my Top 3 sub-genres of music.

Read:
On the nightstand, The Comedians: Drunks, Thieves, and Scoundrels and the History of American Comedy by Kliph Nesteroff

Watch:
It could be that I’m too familiar with the source material, but Netflix’s Jessica Jones is moving way too slow. But episode 4 did pick up the pace (on the once a week viewing).

Listen:
Chicago vs. Detroit in the house! Love the Boiler Room sessions.

Read:
Still slashing through Moby Dick after reading In the Heart of the Sea. Feel likes it’s a great capstone to my year of 100 books.

Watch:
Solid season twos: The Knick and Last Man on Earth. Will be bummed when holiday breaks take effect.

Pullbox Issue 17

Listen:
Gantz Boiler Room debut.

Read:
Aziz Ansari’s NYT piece hits all good points.
The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert - fitting that I wrapped this up when visiting friends in Chicago and toured the Field Museum.
Also, loved In the Heart of the Sea: the Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick. The movie trailer is very misleading, unless I missed the whole lost at sea/cannibalism bit.

Watch:
A couple of weeks ago, I binge-watched Flesh and Bone. Dark and twisted.
Pacing myself through Master of None and Jessica Jones. For snobbery points, I do have the Alias comics back at my parents home. I also heard some teens at a coffee shop on a date say they didn’t like Master of None because “it’s about some twenty-year olds.” During that date, the guy pulled up some video on his cellphone, which apparently was hilarious. Modern love.
